Series: Overcoming Excuses – #2 Too Stressed To Exercise

are you too stressed to exercise? Find out how you can move past that obstacle toward your health and fitness goals.

Fitness Goals / October 29, 2019

Are you losing sleep because you are worrying about an important but unresolved decision?  Are you reaching for yet another bag of chips to forget about a conflict at work?  Will you skip out on going to the gym today because there’s just too much schoolwork to do?

If so, you’re stressed! And, you’re probably using stress as another excuse for not meeting your health and fitness goals.  It’s one of the most common excuses we hear:

“I’m too stressed to exercise.”

Experiencing stress can be an even bigger barrier to exercise than not having enough time because of the way stress feels.  Whenever my mom describes her life ten years ago, before getting in shape, she remembers feeling overwhelmed, isolated, stuck. Can you relate?

The real problem is that having health and fitness goals won’t even seem possible if you are waiting for things to calm down.

They don’t ever really calm down.

And cutting out sleep, binging on junk food, or avoiding exercise only make you feel worse.

But the good news is that change is possible at any age.  Taking care of yourself will help you feel better and empower you to handle the stress.  Dr. Mimi’s story is another reminder that even when you feel like you do not have a choice, you still do.

You simply need to remember: “extreme stress requires extreme self-care.”

In this week’s video, Dr. Mimi and I will talk about ways self-care can help you overcome the excuse that you are too stressed to exercise.

You’ll learn:

  • How stress gets in the way of meeting your health and fitness goals
  • Healthy ways to combat stress in your life
  • The benefits of making better choices to reduce stress.

If you are finally getting tired of feeling so tired, this video is for you!
