Are tired of feeling unhealthy? Are you frustrated that you haven’t seen results from yet another diet? Are you getting to an age where you’re beginning to wonder why you should even try anymore?
Stop right there. If there’s one thing I know (I’m living proof!), it’s NEVER too late to make small changes that lead to a healthier version of you.
That so-called “inevitable decline” of aging is NOT inevitable. You CAN fight it, and you can get fit, even if you’ree knocking on the door of your 50s and 60s.
My Weight Loss Journey (in my 60s!)
I spent most of my 40s and 50s carrying around extra weight. Like any healthcare professional, I wanted to talk the talk AND walk the walk. I knew I needed to be healthier, but I didn’t know thow to get there.
Finally one day, Kat looked at me and said, “Mom you are a hypocrite. You’re supposed to be a healthy role model.”
Let me tell you, that really stung, but I realized she was right. I didn’t think there was anything I could do about my health at the time. I was too busy working on my doctorate degree. Not to mention I was already in my late 50s and had dieted off and on for years with limited success.
But Kat said to me, “Don’t give up. I’ll help you.”
Over time, with Kat’s help, I made one small change after another. There were certain changes I really resisted – like letting go of artificial sweeteners! – but over time those small changes became habits that resulted in a much happier, healthier, and fit me!
Sometimes I tell people that I gave birth to my daughter, but she literally gave re-birth to me. If she hadn’t challenged me, and patiently guided me, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
You Can Get Fit At Any Age
In this interview I did for the fathersafter50.com podcast, I talk about three ways Kat and I work with clients to help them achieve long-lasting change at any age—just like Kat did for me:
- Mindset – Your limiting beliefs and the excuses you’re making that are keeping you from reaching your goals.
- Sleep – Sleep is a powerful tool for weight loss. Are you getting enough quality shut-eye
- Fitness – Are you exercising too much? Or not doing the right types of exercise for your body?
If you feel like you’ve tried everything and still can’t lose weight, you are NOT alone. So many women feel like it’s just too late for them. But the truth is, it’s never too late to make one small change TODAY that will impact your health TOMORROW.
